Project Snapshot

Project Cosmos hosts a large undeveloped gas resource in Queensland connected to east coast and international markets by an existing transmission pipeline.

The Drive To Deliver

Northstar is the 100 percent owner, marketer and operator of Project Cosmos, a natural gas development located between Charleville and Roma in south-west Queensland which is connected to Australian east coast domestic markets and Gladstone’s LNG export hub via existing open access pipelines.

Hosting a 1,150 BCF of independently certified prospective resource, covering over 4,000km2 and proximate to existing large scale coal seam gas (CSG) producing fields operated by Santos, Origin Energy, Arrow Energy and QGC, Project Cosmos will serve local and international gas markets.

Project Cosmos overlies known producing basins and is situated away from strategic cropping and agricultural land.

Our geological models include 250km of 2D seismic, 90 water bores intersecting gas source formation stratigraphy, and 300 shallow regional water bores.

Northstar’s activities in the near-term are focused on obtaining the required geological data over our tenements to delineate further gas resources and advance through the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ (SPE) 2018 Petroleum and Resource Management System to production readiness.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Two 100% owned gas exploration leases in Queensland intersected by major transmission pipeline (SWQP) with latent unutilised capacity.

Independently certified >1,150 BCF Prospective Resource (Best Estimate) estimated by leading worldwide petroleum consultants NSAI.

Project Cosmos has outstanding access to all markets via gas transmission, electricity transmission, direct rail and port.

Modern, systematic, targeted exploration approach to deliver regular company news flow and resource upgrades.

EXCEPTIONAL
MARKET ACCESS

ATP is transected by the South-West Queensland Gas Pipeline (SWQP).

SWQP is owned and operated by the APA Group (Australia’s largest infrastructure group) providing Northstar open-access to east coast and southern gas markets.

The SWQP has an eastern haul capacity of approximately 322 MCF/day and a western haul capacity of around 383 MCF/day and is a probable target for Hydrogen market access through blending.

Foundation customer capacity available.

Low bundled pipeline tariffs <$2.00/GJ/day.

Favourable Geology

Our gas acreage overlies the Surat, Adavale and Eromanga Basins, which are all host to commercial accumulations of hydrocarbons.

Exploration Phase 1 Completed

Northstar Energy

  • Completed 150km of 2D seismic line NSCOS-01 and reprocessed and modelled of additional 125km of existing 2D seismic line ESSO Y81-A.

  • Developed new well design that satisfies the P&G Act and the Water Act that can be converted to functioning water bore for landholders.

  • Additional well site preparations completed.

  • Completed extensive laboratory testing on existing drill cores including Source Rock Analysis (SRA), X-Ray Deflection (XRD), Total Organic Content (TOC).

Previous Operators and Landholders

  • Downhole geophysics of 38 regional exploration wells reprocessed and modelled.

  • 90 x water bores intersecting gas source formation stratigraphy.

  • 300 shallow regional water bores.

Planned Exploration

Extensive works over the past five years

Phase 2 Exploration

  • Comprises completing a series of  petroleum wells to establish Contingent (2C) and 2P Resource certification as a priority.
  • Permeability, porosity, gas desorption and gas content testing and ground water monitoring.
  • Continued development and field development maturation studies.

Phase 3 Exploration

  • Undertake production tests.
  • Establish a 3-5 well CSG pilot.
  • Complete additional infill drilling to strengthen 2P (Possible & Probable) reserves position.
  • Progress tenure applications coincident with associated permitting studies and obtaining approvals.
