Hydrothermal energy is a profound power.
Amid the need for greener baseload power, our investment case is compelling
01
Australia needs more baseload power that’s carbon free.
02
We have the technology to convert the earth’s heat into electricity.
03
We have a dominant thermal acreage position with power network access.
04
2MW start up provides cash for 1,000MW growth pathway.
“Hydrothermal energy doesn’t have the same issues with intermittency, weather, transmission and storage that you have with solar and wind. It is the game changer in renewables that Australia has been looking for.”
Paul McKenna
Executive Chairman
Meet the pioneer’s of cleaner hydrothermal energy in Australia.

Our hydrothermal technology is ready to go.
We’ve partnered with technology leaders to commercialise our vast thermal resource.
Our acreage covers Australia’s nest thermal fairways.
Existing petroleum wells across our acreage may be repurposed to avoid expensive drilling costs.
Our technology partner University of Newcastle has developed the perfect formula for Australian conditions.
We have secured an exclusive licence to use proprietary heat exchanger technology.
Organic Rankine Cycle is world’s best hydrothermal generator.
We are targeting the shortfall of baseload capacity.
We will help serve Australia’s renewable energy target of 75% by 2035
01
Independent but eligible for funding
Northstar’s hydrothermal projects are not subsidy dependent but we expect them to be highly eligible for government funding.
02
Australia’s renewable energy commitments
The Australian Government is achieving its renewable energy target through initiatives like the Capacity Investment Scheme, which is underwriting investment in a total of 23GW of bulk renewables by 2030.
03
Revenue stability through government contracts
Government contracts underwrite project revenues between a floor and a ceiling, removing some of the project risk.
04
ARENA driving innovation and investment
ARENA’s Future Made in Australia Innovation Fund is providing $1.7 billion over 10 years to unlock private capital for new green industries. Another $1.5 billion over seven years is being provided by ARENA to develop and commercialise renewable energy technologies.
